Or should I feel blessed that I can basically APB my need for someone who can digitally select my set list so I can bust rhymes in front of people....
At the reference of the Rhyme Culture cats I got connected to new kid on the block DJ Tone....
I hadn't had the opportunity to meet with homeboy until he parked his whip in my driveway, loaded up my car, & embarked upon our 3 hour [tour] voyage....
We chopped it up about typical small talk polly for a few and when we got within our destination's doorstep, decided we should probably go over some sh!t....
He also isn't a big fan of "smoke", but being the annoyingly accommodating a*sh*le I be's, included in his Labeless welcome package (pause) was a mask I had gotten from the warehouse at my nine to fever....

Then we got to the spot we were to rock at....
Realised we passed right by it courtesy ala GPS on 1st pass because we didn't believe we'd be performing at a golf club....And you know what? We were performing at a f*ckin' golf club[house].....

Yo, I been beating my head against the wall since the end of the year/St.ART of the "new" year on what the hell I'ma tell yall I put on a top 5 releases of 2011 (From a listener's perspective)...
Really, every year since I St.ARTed doing these lists sh!t is getting worse & worse (From a buyer's perspective)....

I truly enjoy copping a new record well worth my minuscule federal reserve notes, but as the years pass I find myself getting a hold of a grip of ish I enjoy via free download. Like most collectors, IF? I grab something worth buying the official release, I usually do so.... But more often than not, down loadable releases are just that; with no physical copy to follow.

Looking kinda bleak, music geeks....
So my first 3 entries are joints I bought that all hold the same weight in regard to their additions to Hip Hop culture in 2011....

This sh!t is type ridiculous yo. Caught me off guard. I got put onto this from someone else and had every intention on passing it over. Boy am I glad I didn't take my own advise. Made me St.ART diggin back into old stuff he previously released and I ain't disappointed by any of it! Sleeper pick of the year yo.... Cyber Sheik type styles even! I actually just caught a beat tape joint he did where he parody styled Aloe Black's release for the cover HERE

Prime example of something I got a hold of months before it's official release. So dope I went and copped as soon as it got onto the store shelf yo. Aesop Rock is probably my favorite melanin deficient Hip Hop artist. Period.

Took me a while to get on the Danny Brown train. I am no fan of Black Milk either. This sh!t is dope yo (minus like 1 song for me).... Also prompted me to rush out and see the Hybrid MC when he passed through my area. I crashed my car that night on some really drunk rain sh!t, but I don't regret the night at all yo.

That brings me to the rounding out of this list via 2 joints I caught on some download sh!t...
A continuum of the Danny Brown onslaught yo. That 30 (XXX) ish is crazy. Glad ya not 22 and I can't relate yo, but that gear is type tight, black man, and I don't mean tight meaning fresh either (Ha!)....

First of all, fuck Black Friday. Seeing people lined up out side a Wal Mart in tents in the cold just makes me sad. If you went out shopping and supported small businesses you get a pat on the back, champ.

Me? I bought a couple slices of pizza and ate them in the whip on the way to western Massachusetts (only because I had to leave RI before pops laced his famous open faced turkey sandwiches).

Rocking in Housatonic, MA on Black Friday has become a holiday tradition at this point. Don't sleep on shows in the mountains. Things tend to get a little crazy. Last Friday was no exception. Especially because this year's show fell on the Born on Date of both Domink Omega (aka Reggie, the most popular man in said mountains) and this guy:

After a car ride listening to these grizzly gentlemen (Fran P and Skip):

school me on all the new school rap that I've never heard of. We arrived at the venue and were greeted with delicious bar burgers and this:

I was pretty far gone. The beer and bourbon didn't stop flowing until 6am. I remember going to an after party with this ill boombox shrine (the model I grew up with is front row center):

I also remember the same person who had me faced on Molly last time I was in town offering me acid and me turning it down (pussy, I know). Then I got lost on some mountain road until Arc and Vice randomly drove by and saved my life. Thanks fellas.

What an embarrassingly wretched (pre)weekend...

Leaving MA later than expected, we still managed to make it up to the 'Cuse by midnight and even got to utilize a coupon found within one of those tourist guide joints found along stops on most major roadways (pause for the possible pickle park sweetheart ish).....

Esh was slick enough to grab plates from the continental breakfast provision and we lounged a little hard knowing our Canadian connect wouldn't be available until way later in the evening and it only takes 4 hours to get to Toronto from the 'Cuse.....

Here you see Esh at a Casino back in Niagara Falls texting [our] entire address book(s) that we just got rejected from entering into Toronto, Ontario, Canada...

Having never crossed any border by way of car, we took every and all precautionary measurements necessary to pass through unscathed....Ya man's the grandaddy og blunthead for decades; so for over a week strong I aired out my vehicle, refrained from partaking in said activity within said confine, and cleaned the absolute f*ck outta the sh!t.......Made sure I was the driver of my vessel at the actual time of crossing. And most definitely knew to keep everything up front and honest as all hell....

I haven't felt as violated as I did from everything that occurred in attempting to drive onto Canadian soil since who knows when..... But let me tell yall, at the end of the day, I place blame unto my uneducated-to-crossing-the-border-ass self.... Just say "vacation" when they ask why you're entering their country... Most every normal person on this continent knows this, but leave it up to MC Honest Abe & MC Jim Carrey's role in Liar, Liar to fail in average, everyday, normal type shart such as....

In an attempt to deal with this discrepancy as a mature, professional, & ethical aspiring entertainer of the Hip Hop kind, I am taking sole ownership of basically f*cking this up and apologize to our Hand'Solo Records fam, $5 Rap Show cats, and all the people we would have loved to finally meet, those who mighta wanted to meet/peep us, & those who pulled rabbits outta their hats to accommodate our visit/intervention.... Trust me when I state, we are definitely down in the dumps over alla this.... Yall know what it feels like to drive 8 - 10 hours twice in 2 days? Nahmean.... I mean, there might even be some kinda sick humor in all this, but mostly it's our ultimate "loss".... With sanctions even....

I'd love to sit here and be like f*ck the Canadian Border Patrol.
I'd love to believe we got messed with like the US Border Patrol Officer told us we did.
I'd love to believe the two semi good looking Canadian Border Patrol Officers had absolutely no reason what-so-ever to trash my car, count the loot in my wallet, & go through my f*cking cell phone(s).
I'd love to believe admitting we had "CDs" in the trunk was "the right thing to do"....
Sh!t, I'd love to believe people were affected by us not gaining entry as much as we were....

But here's some sh!t neither of us truly considered. Like truly considered.
There was some form of foiled assassination attempt on a Middle Eastern official on US soil recently.... But more importantly sh!t like this....

This is Occupy Syracuse. We hit 'Cuse on the way back too, cause at that point ya man really needed some good tree and I still got fam in said region.... This is one of many "Occupy ____" we've seen within the last 2 weeks.... You've probably witnessed similar scenarios... Shouts to the Veterans For Peace cats that caught the raw daddy late night beat down in Beantown last week.... WTF? I mean, they just had Occupy New Bedford & Occupy Dartmouth around here... Someone told me there was an Occupy Walmart too? WTF?

So I ask yall;

Did we pick the worst time in a while to try and cross another country's border due to a lot of political unrest?

Am I as a suspicious non-Black/non-US citizen looking character as my wife says I am?

Are we that amateur in life we can't pull off some average, everyday, normal life sh!t people do alla the time?

Am I the biggest f*cking idiot in leaving 'Cuse a day before the best exhibition game I ever did see on ESPN3 via the Carrier Dome?

Are we now cool, edgy rap dudes cause we ain't allowed outside the country like that?

Was the Canadian Border Patrol on the rag?

We stepped out Friday to peep some rap music in Providence for once in like 6 months... Aside from Cuddy, Open Mike D (Gigs), & the other staff dude we chill with like that... there were no familiar faces at this show (sans the few heads that drove down from Boston that Esh knows. Annie Mulz cats I believe....) Oh & this dude pictured below too... I must admit, claiming to feel like sh*t, ya man had at least 10 Hip Hops in his mic yo....

I'll be the 1st to admit, seeing Despot was like an added bonus, cause me, like many, really went to peep the Hybrid stylings of Danny Brown.... Yeah. We weren't let down. Hey there cool guys.

While browsing the vastness that is the internetz (in between Twitter and Facebook stalking and random fap sessions) I happened upon Ra the Rugged Man's Murderous Lyrics competition. It seems that Mr. Rugged Man is combing the world wide web looking for the next big thing in indie rap.

Now, I will not editorialize and tell you that I think internet competitions are bullshit popularity contests that have more to do with how many social network "friends" you have than actual skill, and is more a form of public masturbation than a creator of opportunity, and appeals mostly to the ego maniacs that make rap not very fun, and has never really gotten anyone anywhere (woops, sorry)......because honestly, this competition seems legit and I have seen a lot of talent in some of the video submissions (and a lot of pretty awful shit, which is to be expected).

Which brings us to my hometown: Providence, RI. When I first learned of the competition I clicked on a link the said something like "are you better than these emcees." Assuming I was, I clicked on said link and was greeted with the finalists and a familiar face.

Once again the educational and mentor Gawds of New England have summoned upon he who hath spill unfiltered truth to the new age youth....

I'd like to thank the students at the John T. Nichols Middle School in Middleboro, MA & my good friend Natalie Laperiere for allowing me the opportunity to tell teenage patawans how life is not cotton candy, roses, unicorns, and glitter.... Especially in a realistic make music context.... Well.... For most of us anyhow, no matter how hard most cats front....

Anyhow, I was kinda surprised on how up 13 year old middle schoolers are in regard to musical historicals and key facts elder heads might assume they know not of.... I was also surprised only 2 kids raised their hands when asked IF? they knew who Odd Future is.... They knew some Michael Jackson and RUN DMC though!!! (Even up on what tapes & records are!!!)

Big ups to the 2 gals that not only wrote a rhyme for me to take home (autographs included!) but spit it to me live in unison!!! Best line ever, "Bored chillin in direct study, My friend Jocelyn's gonna teach us how to Dougie in her snuggie".... What!!! When 13 year olds are asking my grown up ass "What's good, B", it's kinda weird.... Word.

Last weekend The Arcitype and I were promised all access passes to The Roots Picnic and a chance to build with ?uest Love. Who offered said passes, you ask? Oddly enough, _______. I guess she attends __________ here in "da bean."

Fuck it, why not? Right?

So, here was the plan:

Drive to NYC on Friday night, crash (no shortage of free places to stay in that city), head to Philly Saturday afternoon (musician morning), then whip it back to NYC for Saturday night.

Here is what happened:

We drove to NYC and got shit faced as soon as we got there. We attended one of my brother's band's shows (Arc was out of his element like a mother fucker), then bounced to Crown Heights to meet up with MC Eleven and A.M. Breakups at Willie Green's birthday party. By the time we got there I was so wasted that I almost passed out on the bar. I forgot to call, and inadvertently, blew off a shit load of people. Also, I didn't take any shitty camera phone pics for the blog.

Next day started off proper. We got to Philly at a reasonable time and discovered the perfect hangover cure...Cheese Steaks. Apparently, touristy out-of-state mother fuckers such as we are sent to either this place:

The rest of the day was not quite as smooth as my post cheese steak bowel movement.

Yesterday I got to peep the dope new indie rapper/Internet sensation Action Bronson bless my neighborhood. By the time he got on stage I was pretty much blacked out.

The day (drinking) started early. Cas, Falside, Taj Campman of Defcon and Grey Sky Appeal, Nicolas Heller, and Nick's roommate (sorry homie, I am terrible with names) came through the cribo for a brew-filled backyard brobecue. Started with High Life ended with Svedka.

I had a healthy buzz before we motivated to The Church of Boston. My father once gave me this advice about "long distance drinking": Get your buzz, then drink just enough to maintain that buzz for the rest of the night. I didn't take his advice last night.

Here is what I remember:

Moe Pope, Rain, and Chris Talkin tore shit up and were all dressed in flannel.

I definitely hopped on stage during their set to take pictures (no one noticed).

Drunk ass Falside jumped in every picture I took.

Action Bronson made it known that he digs food.

Sleezy Trees was there?

I missed most of Raheem Jamal's set, but what I saw was dope.

I had a conversation about "acceptable shorts".

Chum Chops was there.

DJ Next has yet another super gay haircut.

I talked to Yukon MC about when we both worked at Landspeed. He had no idea who I was.

New Project Update

I haven't been very mouthy about the fact that I'm in the process of finishing up a brand new project. Admittedly, I suck at promotions. Or maybe I just don't want to be one of those obnoxious assholes that bombards you every 15 seconds on the Internet. Really, I just need to find a happy median.

New media marketing malfunctions aside, the project is a collaboration with Poorly Drawn People producer Dox. He made all the beats, I made all the rhymes (aside from verses from Fam-o Cas and Ink and some real purty singin' from KiKi).

It's an EP entitled "Invisible" and will feature 6 new tracks for you to download and put on your Zune. It will be available for free via bandcamp and pressed in a limited edition physical form for $$$. I haven't decided what form it will take, but I'll let ya know.

Last night I pedaled out to The Bridge Sound and Stage in Cambridge where the mix has been getting Johnny Rambo'd by resident engineer Dan Adams aka Young Jedi.

So, the other night I got a text from the homies over at The Brain Trust asking if I wanted to bless the stage at a show headlined by DJ/Producer K-Salaam at The Church of Boston...........that night. Further solidifying my status as Boston Bench? Bogus indeed, but I like to rock raps and truly do Trust in the Brain (pause), so I threw some merch in the backpack and rode down to Fenway.

The show ended up being extra live, with performance from Greyscale, Charmingly Ghetto, Stephen Jones, and Micha. There was a good crowd and I met a lot of cool peoples. Plus, I got not one but TWO DRINK TICKETS!!! Shucks, thanks fellas. You really know how to make a rapper feel welcome.

I'm still not f*ckin with Twitter, FaceBook, or Ipods so you can enjoy our baby steps toward the future of virtual business..... We have collectively decided to release both the "SOLAST" remix project & the E-S-H & D-O-X joint via BandCamp rather than a file share site so we can control how long it exists virtually and maybe even St.ART a new avenue in getting ya hands on our music..... In the spirit of contemporary Boston Rap, we attempted to provide entertainment at a basement party function last night. Key word; Attempted. Few months ago we attended one of these current forms of congregating outside of a club scope shin digs in which fams Moe Pope & Rain caught wreck with those responsible most often [for these type of parties] IE; Defcon (Taj), Outwrite, etc... After a day of browsing Harvard Ave's finest in sneaker spots, enjoying Esh's tasty chicken tacos, & a whole lotta California's finest of greenery we were hoping to end our Saturday with the opportunity to rock rhymes Beat Street style in the depths of some one's basement. 75 - 100 people in attendance later, we waited patiently ingesting mass amounts of tree and brew ha awaiting our turn to step up to the soap box. A 2 piece band (drummer and guitarist) riffed for like an hour and a half! It's now 1:30AM, in the perfect mind state to perform great, Boston's finest shows, deads the party, and we join the parade of people retreating to their vehicles on some evacuation sh!t.... Good time? Yes. The kind of good time that ends similar to the penguin blow job joke's punchline. Almost don't count, but count us in the next time sh!t like this yumps off.... Ha... We saw this in a rummage box full of old ass tapes outside a dusty music store & found extreme humor in our discovery for some reason... I think the cats who threw the party were vegetarians... Sharpen them skills, smokers... Damn Chuck. Everbody cool came out.... The Arcitype (doin' BIGGER things than YOU!), DIM, Jeremy (Sully), and the f*ckin herd of youngins seeking music outside the standard scope of musical presentation (who all hold position in the upholding of tradition in the context of Boston underground rap. Key word being underground.)

My son is officially a year old today..... He's a f*ckin beast. He looks like my wife. He has apparently inherited my "good hair".... Rumor has it Esh has recorded all his vocals for the E-S-H & D-O-X EP dropping for free 99 digitally once ready to rock....Stay tuned. I knocked out my track for the upcoming "Loop Minded Individuals" project last night with the help of Gibran. Big ups on the look out, yo, most appreciated.... So while the majority rule populous of Providence Hip Hop badmouth and bicker amongst the masses; no one noticed that your humble nah-ray-tor has last year's "Sticks Out Like A Sore Thumb" title track nominated for SONG OF THE YEAR in the Providence Phoenix Music Poll Pissing Contest (Best of 2010). Having a chumps chance in the clink of winning, we DO, however, acknowledge that this is most likely the 3rd? Hip Hop entry in the history of the Providence Phoenix Music Poll to be included within this category. The other nominees are all of more the acoustic genre (I believe) & it's kinda cool to get shines of a musical nature as opposed to king of the Hip Hop hill, actually....BUT, up until now and what I expect to be the duration of this "contest", all of the provided information for said entry is COMPLETELY INCORRECT and I'd bet the f*ckin' farm that it stays that way... In fact, the music, bio info, and pictures ARE NOT ME... Thanks again for the "chance", gang, you guys rock!!!

So, yeah.

Last Friday my man Taj of Defcon hit me up and asked me to rock his art show's after party, on some last minute shit. I said yes because I enjoy reciting raps in front of humans, sometimes. Plus, both the Gallery and after party bar are about a block from the crib.

After a nasty Cuban sandwich, Dunkin' Donuts coffee, and an unexpected bowel movement in a public restroom, I block trooped to Stingray Body Art to peep the work of Sol9 (aka Taj).

In addition to the tattoo parlor, Stingray has a separate gallery where they do openings and special events. They also have computer stations set up for people to browse the internets and get ideas for their latest Ink...which I found weird and not very counter culture. Clean.

Once in a while you recognize that others recognize and it gives you a better understanding as to where you stand in the universe..... Glad to know 10 years of arguments, fallen friendships, minimal kick back, & buried unreleased tracks could add up to a little bit of "props" anyhow...

A big thanks to our Dirty Durdie fam for sliding into our stage slot and catching the ripe crowd leaving us further inebriated trying to entertain what was left of the room. Love when that happens.... I owe yall n*ggas! Heh.

I did my best in trying to execute my "St.ART" montage created from Gibran's "St.ART-Skrimentals" project after ingesting a quick 6 beers and some tree. Yeah! Plus the sound was stellar as usual (Ha!).... Whatevers, man, we make big deals outta non obvious sh!t. Good looks on all the appreciation yall, we do this for public viewing..... Like a f*ckin wake, fam....

Winter Weekend Wild Out 2011....

Ya know, for a while I been hearin' about these "shows" taking place in people's homes up in Boston (Allston specifically)....I thought it was a sh!t idea that was only assisting the powers that be in getting those who don't play ball out of the local circuit loop. Esh even told me he attended one of these "in-house shows" where as friends of ours from outta state stopped through someone's living room amidst their tour (That's taking advantage of some downtime IF? I ever heard)....
So last night Esh and I headed like 4 blocks from his crib to the Fameless Fam resting place where cats we've met along the way were set to wreck shop inside a residence and not a club....Most noteably, our fams Moe Pope, Rain, and Chris....
What at first to me seemed like something I was far too old to attend turned out to be one of the best times I've had in a while (or at least so far this year)... Seriously, I can watch valid artists in Boston rock live at a place with no entry fee, can actually bring 40s to, and smoke all the tree I want at? Word? Say it ain't so, clear channel...

Big ups to Anonymous (Project Move), Falside, DJ Emoh Betta, & A Ronious....
Big ups to Esh, who was so smashed he didn't fight back when I was whipping snow balls at his dome during the walk home where he walked straight into the crib and puked for a few hours before falling out on the bathroom floor.

CasUno Top 5 Releases of 2010

This was harder than last year to compose.....
I don't know, Hip Hop, ya kinda last leggin' sellin' tangible product and quality releases to hold and to cherish....From this day forth....Yadadada.... I don't wanna be a "I used to love her" type....
I know we released newness to yall fiends out there this past year and show no signs of not being committed to continuing to do what we do....
Anyhow, my top fever is even more unorthodox than last year....
Here they are in no particular order:

This left field banger caught us by surprise. I'd put people onto Boy Sand's sh!t and they'd turn instant fan. His guest shots on other people's sh!t been ridiculous.... I hope this cat can continue to feed we in the same impacting manor this release did....

Best record I bought all last year (I will say that much!)....Won't go too deep cause we are, after all, friends with Moe, Rain, & Chris.... I dare you to pick a more consistent record from last year. In fact, I dare you to listen to this record from beginning to end and not love it.... End of story. Look out for the remix rendition of this album and Moe and Rain's future collab works with we here and there....

It's tough to keep up with artists that release series joints every month and have like 100 different alter egos in which they release music under....I made it a point to purchase this volume of the Medicine Show releases and wasn't disappointed in the least. I imagine all the other episodes are equally frESH, but this one hit home for ya man right here....

The next two are a tie in my book for a couple of reasons. One project I got far too much insight upon by watching and being a part of recording and putting together, the other is a release from yet another cat I know a likkle something who released an overpriced EP at the very end of the year and ended up sounding better than most of the few records released in 2010....

Whole lotta Esh production on that Romen record yo.... I think we told you that before... Plus Romen's pretty much fam-at-large like that, and yall know I don't cheer lead in public (lol). Robust's joint is a good ass listen. He fronted on the beats for "SOLAST" he was supposed to send and this EP cost like $15 for a CDR in a really poorly printed cover sleeve, but that ish been sold out since it dropped late 2010... That deserves a made mention fa' sho'....

The last of my list is yet another tie. Difference than the above mentioned records, I did not buy either in physical form. So these are download jawns I caught from Ink, the man who owns every record no matter how he has to obtain them....

The Dres jawn caught me off guard. I got the opportUNITY to peep some of this material when he rocked Providence a while back. We actually got to meet him and talk a bit and he's a really good guy, man.... This record had some strong jewels and a Native Tongue reunion collabo IF? ya slept... The Celph & BuckWild ish just wigs me out. As much as I do not support Celph, Ap, or any DemiGod ish, I found this record to be quite listenable. Even got joints on there. I just don't want the new trend to be like, "Yo, just got me some 1992 E Swift beats to make a record with son!"... I'm sayin' elder aged shorty-wop, let the 90s go already!!! Good idea and all, but this just further proves we aren't letting go of the supposed "Golden Age" of rap and making way for a potentially new one. Sorry. I'm that purist I suppose.

Dear Hip hop, please feel better this year. We're all pulling for you.
I hope I get the opportUNITY to do this again next year, but with the current state of affairs regarding released music, I'd say there's always a chance that it might not....

The concept of Labeless Illtelligence has just turned 10 years old. Let it be understood that every aspect of direct/indirect inclusion, support, participation, and continuation cannot be attributed to one sole entity, but every and all persons who assisted in what exists today & hopefully will exist for years to come...

Through the additions of entities who helped maintain longevity and the casualties of fallen friendship, a catalog of deserved releases and never-the-same-show twice performance marks the years of 2001 through our now 2011.... The road wasn't without hazard & the appreciation isn't always obvious and apparent, but we've sustained a dedication of expression & presentation initially instated at the inception of Illtelligent Wreckkidz....

Thank you for your support and lack there of...

This past Holiday weekend really wizzed by so quickly I didn't realise that it was, indeed, a "Holiday" weekend...

Not cuttin through thick traffic, not neighbors stringing up far too many lights in their yards, not the amount of people out partyin' (or the lack there of), not the continuum of ThankGiving left over I ingested since last Thursday....

But I sure as hell got reminded that it was "Black Friday" & Christmas shopping Weekend Sale Yump Off every 5 f*ckin minutes....

Pardon me, Market-Me-America, some people got better 'tings to do beside abide by yalls brainwashing of ambitous shoppers campaign....

Now that I'm aware of we, once again, being amidst the Holiday Season.... F*ck.

Heh.

Big ups to the wholesome hospitality provided by The Arcitype's famalam, Dominik Omega, the supportive laughter of Dan the soundman, 50 year old Milfs lecturing about ear plugs, the random Western Mass town Class of 2002 High School Reunion, Kiki smackin' me in the face whilst wasted, money who laced me with the extra late ride back to Arcitype's family's compound, dude who kept palming me Sour Diesel all night, the "straggler" that tried to beat my ass over Esh's sourcasm, the now infamous "Suck my D*ck" heckler, whoever dropped a deuce and ruined the air we shared in the "BrickHouse", & homeboy who hash'ed me out at like 3 in the morning...

I had a blast, Berkshires.

IF? people only knew how hard yall party.
